These meetings offer discipline-specific professional development support from peers, graduate students, faculty, and staff in the astronomy and physics departments. A wide range of topics are included: succeeding in your major, preparing for and applying to graduate school, engaging in research, careers in industry, securing an internship, and more.
TIMESTEP Summer Tech Internship
TIMESTEP offers paid summer internships for STEM majors with local industry and research partners. Juniors, and seniors graduating in December are eligible for this part-time summer employment opportunity, running the full 13 weeks of the summer course schedule. Internships are open to students of any relevant major, with particular emphasis on the physical sciences. Citizenship is not required.
Applications open mid-February for summer internships.
TIMESTEP Research Apprenticeship
The TIMESTEP Research Apprenticeship Program is an academic year program that offers 2nd year astronomy and physics majors a paid opportunity to build technical and professional skills that are transferable to both research and industry. Through weekly professional development workshops and skills-building projects in a lab overseen by a faculty advisor, the program teaches the necessary computing and hardware skills for students to land competitive positions.
Applications will be solicited in March for the following academic year.
