Astro SE Interns at Kit Peak, as part of Codex video

"For a very long time, astronomers and scientists needed to be excellent developers in order to solve our problems. AI allows us to focus back on the science questions instead of the coding part." --Chi-kwan "CK" Chan

Dr. CK Chan was the principal investigator (PI) working with the 2025-2026 Astro SE Internship Pilot. He worked closely with four interns and included them when he could into his larger work. When Codex reached out to Dr. CK Chan to do a video on his work with AI, he invited the interns to take part in the process as well. The interns had just started incorporating AI into their coding and throughly enjoyed being part of the Codex site visit, including a trip to Kitt Peak National Observatory.

You can read more about the amazing work Dr. CK Chan is doing with AI in this article and catch several of the Astro SE Interns in this short video
